Overview

The Institute of Medicine (IOM), established in 1972 under Tribhuvan University, is the leading public medical and health sciences institute in Nepal, dedicated to advancing medical education, research, and healthcare services. It has expanded across the country with constituent campuses and affiliated colleges to train health professionals at all levels and plays a central role in strengthening Nepal’s health workforce and patient care.

IOM offers a wide range of academic programs from undergraduate to doctoral levels in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and allied health fields. Its curricula include MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, public health, paramedical sciences, postgraduate MD/MS programs, and research degrees — preparing skilled professionals ready for local and global health challenges.
