Overview
B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is a nationally mandated, public health sciences university and teaching hospital located in Dharan, Nepal, established in 1993 and later designated as an autonomous health sciences university. With a strong community-driven mission and a teaching district network reaching primary health centres and district hospitals, BPKIHS blends healthcare delivery, education, and research to develop competent and socially responsible health professionals.
Academically, BPKIHS offers a broad spectrum of programs across undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and certificate levels in medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health, and allied health sciences, supported by four constituent colleges and a 700-bed central teaching hospital. Popular programs include MBBS, BDS, MSc Nursing, MPH, MD/MS specialties, and PhD tracks, with degrees recognised by the Nepal Medical Council and other national councils, making BPKIHS a centre of excellence in medical education and research in Nepal and the region.
BPKIHS operates regular daily general and specialty outpatient clinics across departments like medicine, surgery, women’s health, pediatrics, dermatology, psychiatry, and allied services.
